since I don't have a name yet, I will just call it the sketch. I still have lots of planned changes which are on the sketch(at least some of them). Please feel free to suggest more ideas for it, but remember, I am still a newb mapper, so I am still learning some things. (hopefully size is good enough) wow, takes like 5 mins to compile... I can't wait until I upgrade my processor and Motherboard EDIT: the map works now, the water is reflecting as it should. I am just waiting for more suggestions so I can change it all at once.

holy..... it took 2 hours to compile the map with everything at normal..... the portals loading took the most time with like an 1 hour 45 mins of the whole thing. so I ran VVIS in fast mode, and it skipped the portals part, and I don't think that is important for this type of map.... is it? it is mostly done I will try playing it, on Gmod, now to check it for problems and for pictures.

A couple of things could be wrong with your map in causing its compile time to skyrocket but the most prominent is if you have any shapes that are not blocks. Did you put anything in the map that is not the block geometry brush such as the cylinder, sphere, etc.?

no, nothing, I only use squares and the ramps since I am still a beginner and it was doing this before the ramps. it has lots of water and a large skybox though. would having a older processor have anything to do with this?
