Just to keep my status from going unofficially "inactive", I'll update this thread when I feel like with content from the new map here. This is going to be my first wartorn / battlefield map, so if anybody has any tips I'd love it ;D Will have fires/trenches/explody marks/burnt out cars/few dead melon parts/etc. Grognak concept:

Encountering much trouble compiling it.
Removed the statue entirely and it compiled, I then started working on the terrain first and now I'm having more compile problems: mainly, when I compile the map everything is a flat surface or it runs into a "file cannot be found" error.
Figured out the error was caused by a bad displacement. The fix? redo the entire thing. So far, I wrote the first paragraph, worked on it an hour, and have since then made 3 versions and had to redo all of them due to this error.
Will keep trying, but expect Grognak to change his style.

The problems with your compiling seem to pop up enough that I would suggest you go to a more mainstream HL2 mapping forum and figure out what is up. There's no reason that something like that statue shouldn't be compiling. There's way more complex maps.

Back from a two day break. I've trashed the original Grognak map/statue, but still have saved in case I want to come back to it later. I've remade a new working / compiling map, that I'm simply adding detail to. Detail includes: Possible second tier build areas. Eye candy (scorch marks, fires, destroyed crap) Base platforms anything else added via a whim trenches maybe? This map is huge, and should give the players the option to have some nice land battles or whatever. Here's a screenshot of the current version that *doesn't* fk up when I try to compile. Linked because of size. img206.imageshack.us/img206/8305/newgrognakoz1.jpgI'm going to go and eat now.

After some additional work, this may be what the "bases" look like. img58.imageshack.us/img58/1157/wmgrognakmemorialdebugtvz2.jpgimg84.imageshack.us/img84/824/wmgrognakmemorialdebugtap6.jpgThanks for the kind words devil <3 EDIT: I am going to release what I have the day after tomorrow (or tomorrow) under a different name, not in the memorial line of maps. I've learned quite a bit today and have some really great ideas that I want to put into action into a bigger project that will possibly take a bit more time. The face of Grognak will not be what you see here today, it will be something much more - I promise.

why is it named sv_? Any chance fog on the map? Make button for it and hide it.. then we can toggle it on or off when we want.
Looks great.

I was not thinking when I named the topic, didn't realize it said sv! Hah! It's still wm, don't worry.
That's a great idea, I think I'll do that.
Fixed name of topic.
